Sockeye swim into Redfish Lake near Stanley
There was a celebration Wednesday morning at Redfish Lake Creek. Because of the continuing success story of the strong numbers of returning sockeye to the area, for the first time in over 20 years sockeye were being released just above the weir on Red Fish Creek and given a chance to swim on into the lake.

Sockeye to swim into Redfish Lake under own power
BOISE (AP) — Enough endangered sockeye salmon are returning to central Idaho this year that some will be allowed to swim the final few hundred yards into Redfish Lake under their own power, something that hasn’t happened in two decades due to dismal spawning runs.
